Persian Blue's - Home Mihrab with Muqarnas - Bradford

Project type

Mihrab

Location

Bradford

This bespoke Mihrab is a rare architectural jewel-an intimate yet monumental work of sacred design, crafted for a private home in Bradford, in the neighbourhood of the Mustafa (SAW) Mount Complex in Frizinghall.

A humble attempt at replicating the Monumental Architectural design elements at the entrance to the Shrine Complex, located in Natanz, Iran. This complex houses the resting place of 'Sheikh Abdul Samad R.A., a renowned Sheikh of the Suhrwardi Tariqa/Order. The shrine complex was built by the Ilkhanid Vizier and disciple/Mureed, Zayn ul Deen Mastaria, in Honour of their Sheikh.

At its heart lies a meticulously constructed Muqarnas, an architectural marvel rooted in the golden age of Islamic civilisation in Persia (modern day Iran). This three-dimensional geometric vaulting is not merely decorative; it is an expression of mathematical harmony, spiritual insight, and centuries-old mastery.

The Mihrab is enveloped in an intricate tapestry of interlocking geometric patterns, creating rhythm and balance. A carefully curated palette of deep blues, soft aqua, and warm ivory tones creates a sense of depth, majesty, and timeless elegance. Every motif interlocks with purpose - echoing infinity, unity, and divine order.

Complimented with Kufi calligraphy Ayat-ul-Kursi flowing around the room on each wall.

This prayer room design is a testament to craftsmanship, heritage, and vision, this Mihrab transforms space into experience - where prayer, architecture, and beauty converge.
