Mission
Crafting Beauty and Reverence
Our mission is to preserve and promote the timeless art of traditional and architectural Islamic Mihrab, offering spiritual enrichment and cultural significance. We aim to create pieces that resonate with the sacred essence of Islamic spaces, evoking a sense of beauty, reverence, and spiritual connection. Through our art, we seek to honour tradition, inspire contemplation, and contribute to the aesthetic enrichment of sacred environments.

Al Ali Arts is a specialist studio, not a general mosque interior supplier. We focus exclusively on the design and manufacture of architectural mihrabs and bespoke Islamic woodwork, produced in the UK with an emphasis on proportion, material integrity, and traditional Islamic design principles. This specialisation allows us to give each project the level of attention, craftsmanship, and responsibility that a mihrab — as the spiritual focal point of a mosque — demands.
Unlike large interior contractors or imported package solutions, our work is not driven by volume or standardisation. Each mihrab is carefully considered, whether traditional or contemporary, and developed with a deep understanding of Islamic geometry, architectural balance, and long-term visual impact. Being UK-based also allows us to work closely with mosque committees, respond efficiently, and maintain full control over quality from design through to installation.
Our role is to bridge heritage and precision — preserving the established language of Islamic architecture while delivering professionally executed, durable installations suited to modern mosque environments. For this reason, Al Ali Arts has become a first-stop solution for mosques seeking experience, clarity, and craftsmanship rather than generic decorative alternatives.
Meet The Artist
I work alongside a small team of skilled craftsmen who support the making and finishing of each piece. Together, we focus on careful workmanship, accuracy, and respect for traditional Islamic design.

Education & Training
My education in this art began within a traditional Master–disciple environment, studying under a Master calligrapher based in Oldham, Greater Manchester. The training followed classical methods: learning to cut and shape the bamboo pen by hand, preparing ink from collected soot, and producing pigments from natural sources such as lapis lazuli, malachite, plant roots, and verdigris formed through copper and vinegar. This process cultivated patience, discipline, and an intimate understanding of material, form, and intention.
Further study took place through repeated journeys to Istanbul, Turkey, drawing inspiration from Ottoman-era mosques where geometry, calligraphy, and architecture exist in perfect harmony. What began as a deeply meditative and devotional practice evolved into a lifelong study of the Arabic letterform — each letter understood not only visually, but structurally and spiritually. Over time, this passion developed from private study and small-scale projects into a professional practice, progressing from a self-built garden workshop to a dedicated studio environment.
Having completed over twenty architectural mihrabs alongside numerous calligraphy works, my training eventually led me to explore muqarnas — a discipline often described as the knowledge of a hidden dimension, existing first in the mind before revealing itself in physical form. This moment marked a turning point, affirming a commitment to depth over repetition, and quality over quantity. Every piece we create is intended to leave an enduring impression — rooted in tradition, guided by knowledge, and made to last.
