Solid Oak Mihrab - Masjid-e-Adam - Bolton-Greater Manchester
Location
Masjid-e-Adam, Bolton - Greater Manchester
Project type
Mihrab, Mimbar, Dome and Pillar decoration
This solid oak mihrab was conceived and executed as a completely on-of-a-kind architectural piece, designed specifically to occupy a four metre x four metre mihrab opening. Crafted from carefully selected European Oak, the mihrab is defined by its depth of carving, grain matching, traditional columns and visual weight. This mihrab is well established as a commanding focal point in the prayer hall.
The arch has a three layer carved section of Naskh Calligraphy and floral backdrops. Machined from two large pieces of solid oak and grain match at the centre of the arch. This prpject demanded an exceptional level of craftsmanship, time and physical labour. From material preparation to extended CNC machining, every stage was approached without compromise, We decided to use a 1mm radius router bit to really get detailed corners within the geometric patterns.
Due to the scale, complexity, and bespoke nature of this project, it was created as a high-value, limited commission, intended for those seeking a truly distinctive architectural statement rather than a repeatable solution. This Mihrab generated significant interest and enquiries following its completion and continues to represent the upper tier of our work.
